In short
- Neighby is free for residents. Societies pay a subscription for the committee tools.
- Bills and dues are set by your society, and refunds of dues are the society’s decision.
- You own what you post, and you are responsible for it. Follow the Content Policy.
- SOS is not an emergency service — in an emergency, call 112 as well.
1. About these terms
Neighby is provided by Tactic Techno Solutions, 53, C. Durairaj Road, Karumuthu Thiyagaraja Nagar, Adhanur – 603 202, Tamil Nadu("Neighby", "we", "us"). These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Content Policy and Refund Policy, form the agreement between you and us for the resident app, the gate and maintenance apps, the admin panel and neighby.in.
By creating an account or using Neighby, you agree to these terms. If your society has a separate written agreement with us, that agreement governs the society's subscription; these terms still apply to every person who uses Neighby.
2. Who can use Neighby
- You must be 18 or older. A person under 18 may be added to a household only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
- You can use Neighby only in a society that has joined it, and only for the flat you live in, own or manage.
- Gate and maintenance staff use accounts set up by their society, and only for their work there.
3. Your account
- You sign in with your own mobile number and a one-time code. Do not share codes or let anyone else use your account.
- Give accurate details, including your name and flat, and keep them up to date.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has access to it.
- Your society’s committee may approve, change or remove your link to a flat — for example, when you move out.
4. Societies and committees
A society joins Neighby through its RWA or managing committee. The committee is responsible for the accuracy of the records it adds — the flat register, bills, billing rules, the ledger, bylaws and registers — and for having the authority to share residents' details with us.
Committee members, moderators and staff with extra access must use it only for the society's affairs, follow the society's bylaws, and handle residents' personal data lawfully, including under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The society is responsible for how its committee and staff use Neighby.
5. Acceptable use
Neighby is a shared space for your building. What you may and may not post is set out in our Content Policy. In addition, you agree not to:
- raise false complaints, SOS alerts, vehicle alerts or reports;
- impersonate a committee member, staff member or another resident;
- share another resident’s details, photos or vehicle information outside Neighby without their permission;
- try to access another society’s data, or anything your role does not allow;
- copy, scrape or harvest data from Neighby, or use bots or automated tools on it; or
- interfere with Neighby’s security, or reverse-engineer the apps.
6. Your content
You own what you post. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and deliver it to the members of your society, for as long as it is on Neighby and only so that Neighby can work. Content stays visible to your society until you or a moderator removes it. Records that form part of the society's books or registers may be kept by the society after you leave.
7. Our intellectual property
The Neighby name, logo, apps, designs and code belong to us or our licensors. You may use Neighby as these terms allow, but you may not copy, modify, resell or build on any part of it without our written permission.
8. Bills and payments
- Maintenance bills, due dates, late penalties and interest are set by your society, not by Neighby. Questions about an amount go to your committee.
- Online payments, where your society turns them on, are processed by our payment partner and credited to the society. Neighby is not a party to the dues between you and your society.
- Refunds of dues are decided by your society under its bylaws. See our Refund Policy.
9. SOS and security
Guard rounds, visitor logs and vehicle checks help your society manage its own security. They do not replace security staff, and we do not guarantee that any incident will be prevented or detected.
10. Fees
The app is free for residents. Societies pay a subscription for the admin panel and committee tools, as set out in their order or invoice. Fees are exclusive of GST, which is charged as applicable. If a subscription is not paid, we may suspend the admin panel after giving the committee notice. Refunds follow our Refund Policy.
11. Other people’s services
Service contacts, listings and events in Neighby are added and rated by residents; we do not vet them. Any deal you make with a tradesperson, seller or neighbour is between you and them. The app stores, SMS and payment providers we rely on have their own terms.
12. Suspension and closure
You may delete your account at any time from Profile in the app. Your committee's moderators may stop you posting in your society, and we may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, the Content Policy or the law. We will tell you why unless we are legally unable to. If a society ends its subscription, we will give its committee a reasonable period to export its records before access ends.
13. Disclaimer and liability
We work to keep Neighby available and accurate, but provide it "as is" and "as available" and cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, content posted by users, records added by a society, or disputes between residents, societies and third parties.
Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees, if any, you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
You agree to make good any loss we suffer because you broke these terms or the law while using Neighby.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any grievance process under the DPDP Act or the Information Technology Act, 2000, the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu have exclusive jurisdiction.
15. Changes to these terms
The date at the top shows when these terms last changed. We will tell you in the app before a material change takes effect. If you keep using Neighby after that, the new terms apply.
