Your profile and personal data are removed straight away. Your posts stay, shown as “Former resident”.

1. Delete your account on this page

Enter the mobile number you use to sign in to Neighby. We will send it a one-time code to check it is yours, then ask you to confirm.

2. What is deleted, and what is kept

Deleted: Your name, photo, phone number, flat and society, profession, about text, blood groups, vehicles, reminders, notifications, notification settings and preferences. Your sign-in stops working on every device straight away.
Kept, anonymised: Posts, comments and poll votes stay in your society’s feed, shown as “Former resident”. They are part of other people’s conversations, so removing them would leave gaps in threads that are not yours alone. Nothing in them links back to you any more.
Kept by your society: Bills, payments and ledger entries for your flat belong to your society, which must keep its accounts for as long as the law requires.
How long: Everything listed as deleted is removed the moment you confirm. Any remaining copies, such as in backups, are gone within 90 days. Security and access logs are kept for one year, as the DPDP Rules, 2025 require.
Every society: One phone number is one Neighby account. If you have moved between societies, deleting it closes the account everywhere, and your posts in each society become “Former resident”.
Coming back: Your number is released, so you can sign up with it again at any time. That starts a brand-new account; the old posts stay with the closed one.

3. Delete your account in the Neighby app

Open the Neighby app and go to the Me tab.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
Read what is deleted, type DELETE, tap Delete my account, and confirm.

4. If you no longer have your number

Write to support@neighby.in with the subject "Delete my account", your name, your society and flat, and the phone number you signed up with. We will check the request with you and close the account within 7 working days.
